What makes "Playing With Fire" work is that it's not sloppy and trying to be something so hard that it adds in extra bells and whistles which in the end wind up making and worse song, not a better one. Blackpink has released two new songs that are actually good. Naturally I'm going to review the lesser of the two since bad news should always come before good news. When Blackpink first debuted I didn't mind "Boombayah" and hated "Whistle"; after listening to them a few more times I came around to liking both, however they weren't anything great in my ears. But the girls are fun, pretty, talented an deserve more than YGs shitty superiority-media play so I'd be on the look out for the group should they release anything in the future that was truly great. "Stay" is the "Whistle" of this release, but's no where near the same level of yolo-trap lord. It's an okay acoustic ballad that utilizes a softer side to the group. The verses are quite mellow and melancholy, however they build into an upbeat and peppy chorus that gets enhanced with harmonica.
