Where's The Originality? Up Your Ass.

I thought I would do another editorial/thoughts post in between all of these music video reviews to balance everything out. Youngjae is hinting at the next mv review for those who want to skip this. Rather you're a fan of K-pop or not, the obsession with originality is real no matter what you listen to. Yes, pretty much every genre (unless you listen to indie, but I'm sure they have this issue too), has that one set of pretentious assholes that constantly bitch and moan about the "lack of originality" in music and how what they listen is "so much better" because it's "100% original." Even though having lyrics about mental illness, rape, murder, love, hate, world peace, world destruction ect... isn't inherently "original" in any sense. Inserting random bits of electronica isn't inherently original, nor is not inserting random bits of electronica. Everything on paper has pretty much been done on paper. As a writer, and someone w...

Momoland - Jjan Koong Kwang

New girl group Momoland has debuted, and just for Nancy alone, I will be following this group. But she's only 16, so Chris Hansen is watching everyone. About the song, it was enjoyable enough to listen to a few times. The chorus is catchy enough, though it won't be anything that will get stuck in your head. But yeah, Nancy is enough of a reason to follow this group.

Kpopalypse Nugu Alert Episode 23: Yes Man, Seo Hyun Lee, Ryu Man Hyun

Now that the novelty of having web traffic after posting about tits the other day has worn off, it's time to scare off all of my readers again with another round of the statistically least popular Kpopalypse series ever, Kpopalypse Nugu Alert!  Let's check out some more nugus! Despite the focus on youth and beauty in k-pop as well as much of Korean media as a whole, rapid shifts in Korea's birthrate means that the population is actually ageing very quickly , faster than anywhere else in the developed world.  These changes have brought with them their own unique social problems , but also a greater need for entertainment by and for the growing demographic of older people.  This episode of Kpopalypse Nugu Alert is therefore dedicated to performers who might be older than Kpopalypse, at least theoretically.  Of course none of them are actually older than Kpopalypse because this is impossible, but in a parallel universe where the laws of Kpopalypse being olde...
