RIP in peace, Rainbow

It's a sad day that everyone saw coming. DSP promoted Rainbow so horribly that a group this good failed to ever win a music show. At one point, Rainbow was one of my favorite groups during 2011-2012 when they were releasing good song after good song. They were starting to gain popularity during this time, but DSP sent them off to Japan and really stopped promoting them in Korea after that. We still got "Black Swan," but Korean shitlords hated that song and Rainbow only promoted for about two weeks. RIP in peace, but we'll still always have Hyunyoung fancams to remember you by, Rainbow.

Writer's Block

Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you all know I've been experiencing major writer's block for the past month and haven't been able to think of any ideas for any long articles and have trouble even writing medium-length articles, for example, MV reviews. Don't worry though, as I'll still try to be active here, even if it's all with shitposts (like how it used to be when I started out). Even if it's just to post something about Twice, there will still be activity on AKF. The main reasons I'm having trouble writing my usual articles in my usual way is that I have finally started treating my depression. Just like how Teddy started writing shit songs when he got happier, I'm starting to write shit posts now. It's much easier to troll when one is miserable every day, and ever since I've started treatment, I've only wanted to do the fapticles, but when you're seeing a cute girl, you're going to be spending more time with her than looki

[MV Review] Twice - "TT"

Twice continues on their roll of success with "TT", which is their best effort yet. I've always liked Twice, "Like Ohh Ahh" was a good debut that I still replay now and "Churro" is still as addictive as it was when I first listened to it. However "TT" takes their formula and improves upon it tremendously. Speaking of tremendous things... SOURCE "TT" is similar to "Like Ohh Ahh" and "Churro" in the sense that it has the members switch between lines quickly that creates diversity in the verses, however instead of it coming off jarring the members are able to mix together more smoothly and that's all thanks to "TT"'s awesome instrumental. It takes the current house trend with a thumping beat but instead of adding more Western elements to it like SM or YG it inserts more K-pop elements with the usage of synthesizer and having a chorus that speeds things along instead of slowing them down. (No shade

Five Nights At Ailee’s K-pop Vocal Fan Camp 2

It's nearly Halloween, so that means scary Kpopalypse fanfiction fun times!  Read on for the long-awaited sequel to Five Nights At Ailee's K-pop Vocal Fan Camp ! It's not mandatory to read the original to enjoy this sequel, but it probably will help your appreciation of some of the finer points of the story.  If you haven't read it you can do so here , otherwise read on! "Well, it definitely was a positive life-changing experience." That's all anyone ever seems to say about Ailee's K-pop vocal fan camp, and it's driving you insane. You're a police detective and you've been investigating the mysterious disappearances of several young men and women over the last year.  The pattern seems simple enough - a group of young people go on Ailee's fan camp, several don't return, and the few that do come back all say the exact same thing under questioning, almost word-for-word.  You've been trying to get people to open up about wh

[MV Review] BTS (Bangtan Boys) - "Blood, Sweat, and Tears"

BTS make their, what? 17th comeback of the year? I honestly lost count, they comeback 20 times a year anyway.  Okay, first thing's first - I have to get this out of my system: More on this later. If you've enjoyed BTS's release since "I Need U" and up then this song should be right up your alley. It's got all the same gadgets and gizmos as their more EDM-heavy songs however it removes the very hip-hop elements out, making it a more commercial release that's right in between hip-hop and pop. The result is a more upbeat dance-hall vibe that is very dance-floor friendly. The vocals and the rapping don't outshine each other hear, nor does it sound like each member is fighting to be heard (which is one of the many faults of "Boy in Luv.") The song sounds very cohesive and runs through like butter. My favorite part has to be, for once, the bridge. It's oddly lush and chill which was a nice change of pace from the more fast paced parts of the so

Nayeon can now die in peace

Nayeon finally got her wish! I don't blame Nayeon one bit, as kisses from cute girls are the best.

Twice Titty/TT MV Teaser 2

If this teaser doesn't get you to stan Nayeon, I feel bad for you. Anyway, HYPED as fuck!

BoA's Top 15 Korean Songs - #9 - Hope

BoA's "Hope" is a song that lives up to its name. This is really just a pick-me-up song that I go to a lot. I love BoA's ballads, but this is one of the ones that I love the most. Most of hers have melancholic lyrics, but like the title suggests, this song can give one some hope.

The cute titties belong to...

AOA!

BoA's Top 15 Japanese Songs - #9 - Shout It Out

Why wasn't this song more popular?! "Shout It Out" was basically a return to form for BoA in Japan, going back to the dance hits she was known for. "Shout It Out" is an addictive pop songs with a catchy chorus and groovy verses that keep the good fun and energy continuing throughout the song. Another great thing was that BoA's visuals were great and she showed off more skin than she usually has recently. It's perfect after the "My Name" article that I asked for more of BoA's abs and then we get it in the next song posted!

BoA's Top 15 Korean Songs - #10 - My Name

Not going to lie, after watching the music video, it's easy to see why I like this song. The only dilemma I have was that BoA was 17 during this music video...but I was 13 when it came out...so does it matter?! To be honest, this is pure nostalgia. I didn't like songs with this sound growing up, I mainly like to watch BoA perform the song. The beat is kind of slow for my tastes. The chorus is good, but the verses aren't interesting enough. Basically, BoA needs to show off her abs again!

BoA's Top 15 Japanese Songs - #10 - Eien

Sometimes it feels like yesterday that "Eien" came out but the song is already seven years old. What makes "Eien" so good for me is that it's a mid-tempo song with a melancholy sound, but with a beat fast enough to keep me awake. If mid-tempo songs are up your alley, this is easily one of BoA's best mid-tempo songs. The thing that saddens me about "Eien" is that this was really the last time BoA was relevant in Japan (spring of 2009). This essentially coincided with my waning interest in J-pop. BoA still has released great songs since then, but avex has largely given up on her with the landscape changing in the scene.

Nayeon's Teaser for Twice's Comeback

Nayeon does nothing for a whole minute yet I'm still fucking hyped for the comeback! Anyway, I'm back home for now, but probably will not be back to posting 100% until later in the week. Tomorrow is the final day of my long hours, then Tuesday night I have a date after work, so obviously I'm gonna prioritize a real girl over posting about cute girls half way around the world. Also, if you guys notice my posts changing, I've been on medications for the past month, so just a heads up.

BoA's Top 15 Korean Songs - #11 - Hurricane Venus

BoA had finally returned to Korea and came out with a great title track in "Hurricane Venus". Admittedly, I only liked the song at first. I think many factors contributed to why the song/concept didn't click with me at first, but over time, the song has steadily climbed up my list of favorite songs from BoA. A lot of the dance songs BoA had in her 2010 album "Hurricane Venus" sounded like they could have gone to f(x) or SHINee. Not like that was a problem, but it had showed how long BoA had been away and how much K-pop had changed in just five years. "Hurricane Venus" just didn't seem like a BoA song when it came out. Other problems stemmed from the weird "-ic" words that SM loved to shove into songs even if they didn't make sense, compounded with a weak choreography (for BoA's standards) and awful makeup, which made BoA look ten years older than she was. However, despite all of the stylistic errors, the song still shines. We'

Youkyung leaves FNC

Youkyung, aka the drummer from AOA Black, was just offed like a black dude in a horror film. NOW HOW ARE PEOPLE GOING TO COMPLAIN BY SAYING THAT AOA SHOULD HAVE  A COMEBACK WITH THEIR BAND CONCEPT WHEN THE DRUMMER LEFT? I FEEL BAD FOR THESE PEOPLE WHO PRETEND TO LIKE AOA BLACK! MAKE AOA GREAT AGAIN! BRING BACK YOUKYUNG FOR ALL FIVE OF HER FANS!

BoA's Top 15 Japanese Songs - #11 - Quincy

Another classic from BoA from when she was at her peak in Japan. This is my favorite rendition of "Quincy". The disco-inspired change to the instrumental gave this song a little extra funk. The original song is already addicting enough as it is, but this live performance pushed the song into the top 15 list. The song has a great melody that still sounds great to this day. It's hard for a song this old to still sound good without nostalgia clouding one's judgment, but I had only become a huge fan of the song within the past few years. Plus, BoAfro is the best.

BoA's Top 15 Korean Songs - #12 - The Shadow

If "Moto" was showcasing BoA's abs, "The Shadow" is all about BoA's cleavage, and if that isn't enough reason to watch one of BoA's MVs, well, it sucks to be you. I love the MV for this song, and BoA's brother has always done a great job with the MVs since BoA came back to Korea. The MV starts out with BoA in the white dress looking like a queen. The tree above the clouds represents the fact that no one is within BoA's league. Then the rest of the MV showcases BoA dancing among mortals while showing off how hot she is. Maybe the songs true meaning is that everyone else will be stuck in BoA's shadow. Yeah, I understand the lyrics, but if other K-pop fans are allowed to make shit up about MVs and songs, so can I! "The Shadow" definitely reminds me of her older songs with a more modern sound. The beat isn't that fast for a pop song, sounding like it could be a mid-tempo song by today's standards. What helps this song is the

[MV Review] SHINee - "1of1"

After over a year of waiting SHINee follow up the awesome "View" with the decent "1of1." Onew is still incredible. Would totally jump onyu. There is no better to way to start a SHINee review, not even sorry. (I would leave it at that but seeing as I wasn't hired for my trolling abilities...) "1of1" is just okay. That's it. It's not terrible it's not great. It's just pretty decent, and I'm inherently fine with that; however I'm used to SHINee's releases musically blowing me away and this just ain't it. This song is like bubble gum, it's starts off really nice but eventually you either get sick of the same flavor being in your mouth or the gum loses it's flavor and you have to eventually spit it out and wash it down with some  refreshing ice water . The song starts off nice however the initial sound just isn't strong enough to sustain the rest of the song. Better luck next time guys. The video is the highlight

BoA's Top 15 Japanese Songs - #12 - Aggressive

I would let BoA get aggressive with me. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) "Aggressive" definitely lives up to its name with that rocking guitar beat and strong drums to go along with it. This was my favorite song from "The Face" for a long while before another song supplanted it later on. This isn't a style we got from BoA very often (especially in Japan), and it was a nice departure from what we normally heard from her. What makes this song special for me is that this is the lead track for "The Face". I'm sure many of us have listened to too many albums where the first song was dogshit and killed any motivation to listen to the rest of the album. Not this song. "The Face" is my second-favorite Japanese album from BoA and "Aggressive" is a major reason why. I loved the song from the first second the music notes reached my ears.

BoA's Top 15 Korean Songs - #13 - Dangerous

For those of you who like "Adrenaline" but wanted it to be even more electronic, "Dangerous" is the song for you. In 2010, f(x)'s "Nu ABO" was one of my favorite songs of the year. It was the song that cemented them as one of my favorite groups. "Dangerous" reminds me of "Nu ABO" with a lot more autotune, but it works very well how the instrumental sounds. At first, I didn't like this song that much because in 2010 the heavily autotuned vocals were too prevalent in songs, but after the fad ended, the song became much more enjoyable for me. I had always loved the instrumental of the song, as I am a sucker for electronic music.

BoA's Top 15 Japanese Songs - #13 - Tail of Hope

"Tail of Hope" is one of those songs I go to when I need to improve my mood. For example, when I fear for the future of humanity after reading fangirls' comments and know that they'll eventually breed and have their own kids, I feel bleak about the future. Then comes a song like "Tail of Hope" to remind me that I'll be really old or dead by the time the offspring of stupid fangirls will be old enough to vote and shit, so I end up feeling better. The best part of "Tail of Hope" is that it sounds like a J-pop song from over a decade ago that is more upbeat with a modernized instrumental. best of all, without the "screeching" that is recognized as singing in most of J-pop. Where the song falls short on an interesting instrumental, the positive, upbeat feeling from the song makes me like it a lot. If other Koreans took my lead of not listening to insipid, depressing ballad songs and then spewing their retarded shit all over the Internet,

[MV Review] Infinite - "The Eye"

Infinite is back and as consistent as ever! Infinite is one of k-pop's most consistent boy groups, and I mean that in a good way. Since debut they've had a signature sound, and have kept to it without getting boring. Even their worst song, awful "Man In Love", still had a very Infinite sound to it. "The Eye" doesn't do much to change that sound but that doesn't make it any less of a great release. "The Eye" has the instruments I've grown accustomed to hearing from Infinite: piano, strings (violins), synths, and hard hitting drums. The song starts of slow and gradually builds into the awesome chorus, the only complaint is that the electronic beat that comes right after the chorus could have been implemented better. I feel like it was shoehorned in there five minutes before the album had to be mass-produced. The second verse does a good job of carrying the electro beat though, thus making the next little sputter less jarring. Overall the
